Holiday Book Gift Guide

The Christmas season is upon us. Since reading is such an important part of our home, I have decided to share some of my favorite holiday gift giving books! My original plan was to gift these to my kids for Christmas, but decided to get their opinions for my blog! It’s safe to say they are BIG fans! I am going to share the books in order of favorites, although there wasn’t one they disliked. ZonderKidz books are the perfect way to incorporate the true meaning of the holiday season for the entire family.

I can’t wait to share these books with you and as always, love when you give me feedback! Be sure to reach out and let me know how your family likes them!

‘Twas the Season of Advent

The perfect book of devotions and stories for the Christmas Season. It is written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Elena Selivanova. Advent means “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event” which makes this the perfect book to bring the entire family together, teaching or reminding us of God. ‘Twas the Season of Advent has stories from the Old and New Testaments. It highlights the promise of Christ’s while the heartwarming reflections and prayers help each member of the family prepare for his great coming. This is the perfect tradition that we will begin December 1 and continue through December 25 and repeat yearly.

Beginner’s Bible Little Lamb’s Christmas

This one was Rhett’s instant favorite! Being 3, having something interactive is always a win with him. The Beginner’s Bible Little Lamb’s Christmas allows children and parents to follow along from the hillside to the manger with the adorable little lamb finger puppet as he witnesses the birth of baby Jesus. Rhett is enchanted by the story and enjoys spending time with us reading it and learning of the birth of God’s only son, Jesus. We are so happy with the connection Rhett has with this story and his bright smile as soon as he sees the book.

I’m Going To Give You A Polar Bear Hug!

This book is written by Caroline B Cooney and illustrated by Tim Warnes. This board book is beautifully written with amazing, cuddly illustrations a sturdy, durable cover. It is packed full of winter fun reminding kids and parents how fun a cozy winter can be spent together, sharing warm hugs. I am sure this winter, on cold snowy days, this will be the perfect story to cuddle up to and warm up ourselves!

I Wonder

Written by Glenys Nellist and Illustrated by Alessandra Fusi, The book I Wonder: Exploring God’s Grand Story, is the perfect illustrated bible. It is inspirational and encourages children to ponder the truths God has placed in their hearts by asking thought-provoking, open-ended questions after each story.

“I wonder …. what I might see if I could look through the gates of heaven. …..if God is with me even when I don’t know. …..why Jacob stood that stone up and poured oil on it when he prayed.”

This book shows that it is OK and normal to have questions. It is OK to ask them and there is always more to learn about God’s Word. I Wonder: Exploring God’s Grand Story offers children the opportunity to draw closure to God while learning more about God’s Word.

Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition

This was an instant favorite in our home! It is written by New York Times best selling author Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jago. This beautiful gift edition shows children that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation. It is packed full of beautiful illustrations to keep children entertained and interested. My favorite part is that it contains the Old Testament and the New Testament. It is a book I recommend for each home and can be useful daily to bring the entire family together.

The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving

A long time family favorite, The Berenstain Bears, brings the perfect Christmas story for children. It is written by Jan & Mike Berenstain and is the perfect story to teach children that Christmas is more than receiving gifts. During the Christmas Eve pageant something special happens and the bears learn a valuable lesson about the joy of giving. Sharing the story with your family helps children understand how important giving is and how much joy it can bring.

As you can see, each book can bring so much joy and family time to not only my family, but your family as well. Be sure to visit the Zonderkidz Christmas Gift Guide to learn more about these books and other great gifts. I pray these books bring your family as much happiness, knowledge and love as it has brought mine.
